Eygpt (56) Khan el-Khalili Market

Friday, January 29 2010

After Khan el-Khalili Market, we go back to the hotel. We have the whole afternoon free, so mum and I go to the hotel gift shop. There's a jewelry store next to it.  A man is standing outside and as we approach him, he says "South Africa".

I don't know how he knows we're South African, but he claims it's a "feeling" he just has. His name is Mohammad - he works in the jewelry store and his cousin, Hussain, runs the gift shop next door.

Mohammad is what my Korean friends would call "oily", and by using this description, I'm not referring to his physical appearance. His behaviour and actions are so corny, but amusing to me at the time because - it just is.

I kid you not. Standing behind my mother, he looks at me with steamy eyes and even flares his nostrils! His cousin, Hussain is far more concerned on trying to make a sale and is occupied with showing my mum various things. Mohammad blatantly looks me up and down and I say to him, "You're not shy, are you?"

Clearly not.

After buying a few things, mum and I go back to our hotel room.
