Kindergarten Farewell Party
On Thursday, July 15 2010 I had a farewell party with my Kindergarten class. This is the 4th class I've taught since I've been at this school and they are definitely the best ever. We had such fun at the party and they loved the stickers I gave them. The Kindergarten teachers always go way out for our end-of-semester parties and I really appreciate it.
Loved their stickers!
I cried when I left :(

Do-Re-Mi by Cute 3rd Grader boy
While my 3rd graders were doing a worksheet today, I passed by one boy who was singing something while colouring in. I couldn't make out the tune so I leaned down to listen properly. I asked him if he'd sing again for me, and he agreed. My heart just melted...doesn't yours?! :)

Excited Kinder-boy pokes eye!
Keep your eye on the boy in navy in the front row. When the song, Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes speeds up, he gets very excited. When it was the part "...and eyes and ears and mouth and nose", he got too worked up and poked his eye! Also note the dramatic breathing of the little girl at the end of the video.
*At the beginning of the video, the kids say "palli!" which means "fast" or "quick" in Korean.

Bad Hair Day for 4th Graders
Even kids have bad hair days!
My one 4th grader refused to pull his hoodie down. His friends told me that he cut his hair and didn't like it so was covering it up.
In my next class, the very same thing happened - this girl had her hair cut and didn't like it so was hiding it under her hoodie!

Bloody Student!
I was wondering why my one 4th grader sitting at the back wasn't doing his work. His finger was bleeding and this is what I saw when I went over to his desk. Sent him straight to the bathroom!

Phonics Face
I saw one of my 3rd graders draw this in his textbook when learning phonics (A-E-I-O-U). He must have learned it at an extra English class or something, but it's the first time I've seen it...quite cute!
The "a + e" are the eyes.
The "i" is the nose.
The "o" is the head.
The "u" is the mouth.

The things kids say...
I taught 6th Graders all day today. We started a new chapter titled "That's too bad". They learnt other expressions like, "This is for you" and "Thank you very much"
When I asked what the meaning of "Thank you very much" was, I was told: "SUPER Thank You!" It's right, isn't it?! I told him that HE taught ME something - I kinda liked it!
Later in the day, after lunch ... I asked one of my favourite boys (English name: Thomas) how he was doing.
He said, "I'm rainbow happy!"
I thought I misheard him.
"Rainbow? Why?" I asked.
"My is everyday happy!" he said with a smile.
We can really learn from kids, eh?! :)

Students who make my job seem worthwhile~
Pizza for after school class
On Thursday, July 9 - when it was raining so heavily, I had to have a double after school English class. Thursdays are my most tiring days (cause of Kindergarten), and I knew that my 10 students were going to tell me they were hungry. So ... I ordered pizza and Cola for them. We were in the middle of the chapter when the delivery guy dropped the pizza off, and I told the kids it was for the other English teachers. The smell was driving them crazy and they were singing "Pizza Pizza Pizza" to the tune of "Mama Mia"'s "Money Money Money"! Needless to say, they were super happy and co-operated well when we had to move on to the next chapter :)

The girl with green hair
This is Joo-hyeon. The pic on the left is from last year when she was in Grade 2. The one on the right is a recent pic of her in Grade 3. She's cute...! But green hair? I don't know....
