Egypt (8) Istanbul: Blue Mosque

Saturday, January 23 2010

Our next stop is the Blue Mosque, or rather The Sultan Ahmed Mosque. It's known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior. It was built between 1609 and 1616 and also has a tomb of the founder.

Visitors need to take their shoes off before entering the mosque. It was very cold, windy and snowing during the time we were there. Also, female visitors are required to cover their head while inside. The Spanish guy was very kind to me and gave me his black beanie to wear.

Trick Art Museum

After Mini Land, (Friday, October 2 2009) I went to the Trick Art Museum - *loved* it here! The illusions are incredible and simply mind-blowing. Everything is just a painting (flat on the wall!) Also not cool to go alone to a place like this, but I took some cool pics.

National Museum of Contemporary Art

On Friday, July 17 the entire staff went on a field trip to celebrate the end of the semester. Since it was raining heavily, we went to Gwacheon - to the National Museum of Contemporary Art. Saw some pretty cool things...too many pics to load on here, but here's a taste of what I saw.

East London Museum

On Thursday, August 21 2008 my friend, Natalie (above) & I decided to do the cultural thing & visit the East London Museum. We were surprised/not surprised to notice that nothing much had changed since we visited the Museum when we were in ... Prep School, maybe?

Nevertheless, it was cool spending the afternoon with my good friend of many years who keeps me company online all the time in Korea!
