Gim-Bap finally has a face...

Daddy, this is gim-bap!
Gim = seaweed & Bap = rice.

Rice is spread onto a sheet of seaweed, and thin pieces of veggies are placed on it. They roll it up, and cut it into about 8-10 pieces.

Big Bang ~ Global Warming Concert 2008

All pics are from the BB GW Concert from YG Entertainment

The day I'd been waiting for for months finally arrived.

June 21 - Big Bang's Global Warming Tour Concert!

When we arrived at the venue, there was a whole lot of Big Bang merchandise being sold...photo books, key rings, stickers, mirrors and the famous scarf (I'll post pics tomorrow).

I couldn't contain my excitement! And then... a man holding a camera approached me. He told me he was filming for the DVD of the concert & wanted me to say something for the camera! I can't even remember what I said, because it happened so fast...!

Security was TIGHT. It wasn't even this strict when I went to the Beyonce concert last year. Here, you had to check in your cameras... and security patrolled around like hawks.

Anyways, at exactly 6pm, the lights went out and ... I went mad! Tae-Yang appeared first ~ suspended from the ceiling... and the rest of them were elevated from under the stage.

In the area I was sitting, I was the craziest, and was surrounded by seemingly calm and collected Koreans! I'm still on such a high from last night...and now, I can't wait for Tae-Yang's solo concert!

Tae-Yang's solo album has been released and he performed 2 songs - 기도 (Gido) meaning "Prayer" & 나만바라봐 (Na-man-ba-ra-bwa) meaning "Look only at me". He revealed that he'll be holding a solo concert soon - hooray!

According to online comments, I don't think fans have taken to TOP's new hairstyle. I don't mind it... and he was great!!!

Dae-Sung also perfomed a solo song & wowed the audience with his charm. The other band members were complimenting him on his new hairstyle / look.

Seung-Ri impressed with his solo breakdancing performance... but I think the star of the show was probably Tae-Yang.

Gummy also made an appearance singing Mee-ahn-eh-yo (Sorry)

Experiencing a Korean death...

One of the 5th grade teachers at my school... her mother passed away after battling with lung cancer for about a year.

I went to pay my respect after school yesterday. My friend, who is the school librarian and I traveled to Incheon... maybe just under an hour away. We walked for quite a distance till we got to the memorial building near a church.

My friend collected a white envelope from an office-looking room when we entered, and she put some cash inside. And then we walked down a passage, looking for the deceased's family. Inside this room was a photograph of the deceased, with many flowers surrounding it. Her husband and son were standing next to it as people offered their condolences. Afterwards, they would kneel and bow to the photograph.

My teacher friend told me to put a white rose next to the photograph and say a prayer. In the same room, there was a man sitting behind a desk collecting envelopes with cash and making a note of it in a book.

After paying our respect, we were led to another room across the passage where tables were set with food and drink for the mourners to have.

Today, some Korean teachers at my school told me that funeral services only take place 3 days after the person has died. Why? I asked... well, before... in the olden days, after a person was declared 'dead' ... they would suddenly be alive again after a day or... 2?!!! Maybe they were just sleeping?!!!! So now, it is Korean law that the funeral only takes place 3 days after the person has died!

Drool... faint....Tae-Yang ^^*

While I was slogging away at work, my friend sent me links to a story she was reading on an online newspaper. She thought I'd appreciate the accompanying pics.

He is Tae-Yang, a Big Bang member who's just released his solo album. My headache suddenly disappeared ~ hahaha

3 more sleeps till the BIG BANG concert!

My addiction to the Korean group, BIG BANG is no secret. I love love love them... I have ALL their music (hip-hop style) and own copies of their 2 concert DVD's. This past Saturday I was in a department store in Seoul and saw a brand that Big Bang endorses. The lady allowed me to take a pic of the posters, and then... she gave me 2 posters and autographed individual pics.

This coming Saturday, I'm going to the Big Bang concert in Seoul. They're on a tour promoting their new album, For the World... which is a collection of their songs re-sung in English! They are too good. I love their singing, music, dancing, style... it's too cool. I feel like a 13 year old again ^^ ....
